📜 Read this piece that Riley wrote about Women Leading From the Front:

Women Leading From the Front ✨👩‍🚀👩‍⚖️

Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Ruth Bader Ginsburg are all names of women who have contributed to society and made a forever impact. 🌍💜

We are reminded of the greatness that not only these four women have accomplished but of women all around the world in March as we celebrate Women’s History Month. 👩‍🎓💪📖

Growing up in the early 2000s... 🌎

I firsthand witnessed the greatness that men and women brought to society. 👀✨

As I quickly learned more and more about history, I was intrigued by how the role of women has changed so drastically in the past decade.

💭 Women who were once:
Denied the right to vote
Unable to access certain jobs
Seen primarily only as caretakers

…was not the world that I was raised in.

Instead, I saw very successful women as:
Business CEOs 👩‍💼
Professional athletes 🏆
More! 🚀

It is almost hard to imagine a world different than the one that I know now.

The Women Who Paved the Way 🌟

It was because of this shift and change that women paved the way for young girls like me to dream about playing collegiate sports 🏀 and eventually joining the military. 🎖️

One question I ponder though:

"What are the names and stories of these women who I can truly thank for being innovators of change?" 🤔💡

Anne LentzA Name to Remember

👩‍✈️ Anne Lentz—one name that I have come to know that many will not recognize.

She was the first commissioned female officer in the United States Marine Corps.

📅 In 1943, one brave woman stepped away from her job as a clothing expert 👗 and became a Captain in the Marines. 💪🪖

I became fascinated to learn more about this name that I had never heard before. 🤯📚

She was the first, and since then, hundreds of women have now taken higher roles, now comprising around 10% of our Corps.

📊 Of that number, women only account for 4.3% of Officers in the United States Marine Corps.

I was so intrigued by her story that I continued to read on and on about this history.

Your Challenge 🎯

💡 My encouragement to you all is to:

🔍 Find a name of a woman who paved the way for something you are passionate about.

📖 Take the time to read and learn—which in turn allows you to celebrate and be grateful for where you are today.

Anne Lentz, thank you. 🙏

Thank you for being the first so that I could take the same path. 🚀❤️
